Soul mates

  • Aquila chrysaetos, or the golden eagle proud and majestic to say the least. I will never forget the first time I saw a golden in the wild feeding on a deer carcas along the highway in eastern Oregon. It was so big and powerful looking it took my breath away and I have been captivated by them ever since. I was blessed to have been able to photograph this bird in the west end of the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone in May of 2009.

  • Falco sparverius, or the American Kestral is the smallest member of the falcon family. These birds birds are one the most challenging brids to photograph as they are very skittish and intollerant of being approached. They can often be seen kiteing or hovering over grasslands in search of rodents and bugs. This one is feeding on a grasshopper at the Ridgefield wildlife refuge in southwest Washington.
  • For me captureing wildlife in action is the ultimate form of presenting the true spirit of nature. The miracle of flight is a true wonder, who among us has not watched an eagle soar and wished for an instant that you could glide above the earth floating on the air currents free as a bird I believe the saying goes.<br /> For me, photographing a creature as beautiful and powerful as a hawk or an eagle or a bird as small and fragile as a tiny hummer or the tiny Bushtit is the equivalent of a football star scoring the winning toucdown in the superbowl or a major league ball player hitting the winning homerun in the world series.
